Menu: A Jordanian style lunch
PB is bringing our wedding officiant over for lunch on Saturday. I am appreciative of the advance notice! They will be in town on official church business, and as our officiant is an important bishop, the lunch has to be better than good!
I will post the recipes of all the starred ones this weekend after the lunch, once I figure them out haha.
Here is the menu I have come up with:
Appetizer:
-Garbanzo, red onion and kalamata olive dip*
-Fresh arabic pita (bought from the Armenian bakery)
Lunch:
-Vegetarian stuffed grape leaves*
-Baked breaded chicken*
-Cucumber and tomato salad*
-A tasting plate with lebneh (strained yogurt), assorted olives, Armenian string cheese, carrots and peppers
Dessert:
Auntie’s Easy Strawberry Shortcake*
Tea & Coffee
Grocery List:
-chick peas (check pantry first)
-red onion (check fridge first)
-kalamata olives
-parsley for dip and grape leaves
-lemons for dip and grape leaves
-rice (have)
-roma tomatoes (8)
-natural chicken breast
-milk or yogurt for the dipping
-eggs (have in fridge)
-flour (have)
-bread crumbs (in pantry)
-cucumbers
-tomatoes
-carrots and peppers
-strawberries
-ladyfingers
-whipping cream

Thank you Gina for helping me out with picking the dessert! I always have a tough time picking which one to make!

There is an article in this month’s self about a girl who had an uncle from jordan who used to give them bits of food from his hand at the table. It was kind of strange, but I thought I would let you know about it.
