Foodbuzz Festival Day 1: A great start in Philadelphia and a great end in San Francisco
I wore my elastic pants.
It is not often that a group of a few hundred food bloggers get together to eat. The First Annual Foodbuzz Festival in San Francisco, CA is providing one of those great opportunities. Let me start from the beginning…
Last night I laid out all my outfits and packed up. I ended up bringing a medium sized suitcase and I am glad I did- we got great swag bags! I brought my running clothes + accessories as well as everything else.
This morning PB and I got up at 4:30 and left for the airport at 5. I am so lucky to have such a supportive husband! It was nice to have the airport ride to chat before I left.
I made myself wait until we got in the air before I had my breakfast. The wait was definitely worth it. I enjoyed my Nature’s Pride whole wheat toast with peanut butter and bananas, and a side helping of Rubies In the Orchard, which has inspired me.
Later in the day after a quick stop in Las Vegas I finally landed in San Francisco. The Hotel Vitale is absolutely gorgeous, with clean, simple lines that insist you feel calm. I love it.
Here is my room:
I met up with Meghann, Kath, and Britney for a walk, and we ended up at Yocup, a Pinkberry lookalike. How did we end up there? ๐ After tasting the pumpkin frozen yogurt Meghann, Britney and I decided to share one. Meghann had the brilliant idea of having graham cracker toppings. Yes, please.
I loved the simple look of the inside. I felt like I was in a big cup of froyo!
Pomegranate arils!
Our pumpkin yogurt with graham cracker topping:
And a Kath Classic, Kath taking what is sure to be a gorgeous photo of her treat:
After a quick rest I headed to the first official Foodbuzz event, a cocktail hour on the 8th floor terrace of the Hotel Vitale. There was a short rainstorm earlier in the day but by cocktail time the sky was clear and beautiful.
Skyy was one of the sponsors and had a fun setup, but I went for a tasty Iron Horse sparkling wine:
After meeting many bloggers new to me and many that I already knew, we all headed over to the Ferry Terminal for the Taste of SF Street Food “Fare”. There were several local companies showcasing their food. Here are some of my favorites:
From Tacolicious: Veggie taco
What I tasted most about the taco was the strong presence of cilantro! I am newly in love with cilantro.
From Alive: Flatbread Pizza Crisps with cashew cream, tomato & basil
My first raw & vegan flatbread. I couldn’t tell it was raw- it was so crunchy!
From Alive: Pomegranate Lavender “Cheesecake:
From Pie Truck: Zucchini & Mushroom Pie
Savory pies are new to me, but if you are looking for a light meal, savory pies are it!
From Pizza Politana: Pizza
This pizza was surprisingly delicious! I honestly didn’t have high expectations as the oven was on WHEELS, but the dough was crispy in the right places and crunchy too. I wish we had a Pizza Politana in Philadelphia.
From Spencer on the Go: Beet salad with Point Reyes Blue & Far West Fungi Vol au Vent
I love roasted beets and this was a refreshing salad that cleansed the palate.
From Mission Minis: Pink lemonade cupcake with blackberry buttercream frosting
This mini muffin was so delicious and moist but not too sweet. It was also the perfect size for a small treat.

Sooo glad to meet you this weekend! Sounds like we had similar Saturday mornings- I got lost by myself at the Ferry Building market too. It’s almost sensory overload walking through there. I’ve been half a dozen times before, but always rainy and always totally mobbed at noon. It was such a treat to have nice weather.
If you are ever in the Bay Area, please drop me a line; I’d love to show you around San Mateo!
