A Day in the Life of Fitnessista?
When I woke up this morning and thought about my evening last night, I had to laugh. My evening mimicked a Fitnessista night in so many ways! Anyone who has ever talked about their favorite blogs with me knows that Gina’s blog is definitely on my top 10 list. I rarely miss a post, and I can only say that for a small handful of blogs. I love exercise, and seeing someone else’s love for it is really motivating to me. I appreciate her passion for good food, sweaty exercise, shopping, her love for her husband and her love for macaroons. I think we share those passions except for the macaroons….
Until Now.
Yesterday afternoon I received an annoying voice message from my building stating that I had a package. There is something currently wrong with the system and I receive about 5 voicemails for one package. I didn’t know what it was since I am always receiving things it seems (I have recently discovered online shopping…) so I just waited until later in the day to retrieve it.
I rode my bike into the city and took a super hot Bikram yoga class. I was literally drenched from head to toe before the class even started, and for the first time in my life I exercised (practiced?) in a sports bra and shorts. It was just too hot! I also had to lay down several times- at least 15- because I was getting dizzy. The website for the yoga studio states not to eat for 3-4 hours before class, so I followed that, but then in class I was so hungry, dizzy, and nauseous. It was dehydration and I had to go to get IV therapy in Willoughby Hills, OH. Now, I am going to bring two full water bottles next time rather than one. The good news is that my IT band and knee did not bother me one bit, and in fact I finally feel some relief today. I am going to make an effort to go to Bikram at least 3 times a week I hope. Not only did my body feel great after, but my mind felt so clear and my emotions so balanced.
Camel still makes me emotional, for reasons I don’t understand.
Back to the package… I retrieved it and immediately knew what it was.
Famous Fitnessista macaroons.
Jealous?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I hurried upstairs, jumped in the shower, and made myself a small dinner, which looking back on it was also very Fitnessista-like. I had some simple baked salmon with steamed green beans and roasted brussels sprouts. And then I ripped open the package and savored one glorious (as the Fitnessista would say) macaroon. I had no idea what I was missing. These delicious treats are almost crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, and they have a faint hint of maple syrup flavor. They are amazing.
So my day was really just a RhodeyGirl day with a rocking macaroon to finish my night, but it is funny to me that in the same day I had a Fitnessista macaroon, I also did yoga and ate salmon. I guess you could say my day was inspired by the Fitnessista, even if I didn’t know it.
All that to say…. Thank you Gina!
…and PB, I haven’t decided yet if I’m sharing.

I am super jealous right now you got to try a macaroon!!
Love Gina, she one of my top favorite bloggies.
I wanted to let you know your post a couple days ago about your mom brought tears to my eyes and I thought about you all day. I hope you are feeling better today. xoxo Kat
@Kat, Thank you so much. That means a lot to me. I AM feeling better- thank you!!!
Jealous! Also, what is the name of the studio? I have been wanting to try Bikram!
Hey Sabrina!
If we’re talking about the same place, I think we go to the same yoga studio since it’s right behind my apartment. I know what you mean about their website saying not to eat beforehand. I am usually fine with 1-2 pieces of fruit or a 100 calories worth of hard pretzels 2+ hours out so it’s a slight violation but they do say fruit is workable. It’s more improtant to have some healthy sugars in your body than to pass out! Also I know if I go a long time between sessions, it’s like I have to re-teach my body to get used to the heat for such a long time. The teachers always say for beginners that the challenge is staying in the room and I agree whole heartedly (humph!)
Anyway, the macaroons sound amazing. I am a HUGE coconut and macaroon fan!
Hey! So jealous about those macaroons. They look amazing. And I definitely used to eat before going– like the above post about 2 hours before…Some fruit or almonds or something? Just to take the edge off.
Hey Sabrina! I’ve been practicing Birkram yoga for almost a year now and I experienced the dizzy feeling during my first week. At my studio the teachers really encourage you to hydrate a lot throughout the day and after class but I found drinking a lot during class would upset my stomach. I also would eat a small snack usually a piece of fruit 2 hours before class. It just takes your body some time to adjust to the heat and you’ll find a system that works good for your body. I’m glad you loved it though, I always think it’s such a special time for me to dedicate to myself emotionally, spiritually and physically
oh man, you are a lucky girl indeed! macaroons and a fitnessista dinner?!?! yummy 🙂
I need to see a picture of this camel pose…
very cute post 🙂
Love, love, love macaroons and that one looks so good. Bikram and other hot yoga is soooo good for injury recovery. My friend and I were in a car accident last summer and Bikram is the only thing that has brought her relief.
What a sweet gift! I agree, she does seem to have a fun life!
ahhhh! i’m so glad they got there ok!! 🙂 thank you so much for all of the sweet compliments and for the lovely shout out
a bikram class sounds like HEAVEN right now
hope you and pb are having a wonderful weekend!

Go you with your super hot Bikram! Yeah I’ve never gotten down to just a sports bra before…I know its fine but still, someday 🙂
