Tory & Anita’s Wedding
Tory & Anita are married! Congratulations friends!
The rehearsal dinner was a blast and the wedding, which could be one of those Belize wedding packages, was even more fun. My dancing feet need some TLC!
A rehearsal dinner in the spirit of a Philadelphia Armenian goes a bit like this…
Rehearsal Dinner… AKA “Henna”
The Food: There was a beautiful spread of mezze, aka cheeses, hummus, & tabbouleh as well as a nice dinner of traditional Armenian & Middle Eastern foods.
A member of the family made these cookies. Aren’t they gorgeous?
The theme of the night was a black and white party. It was so fun to see everyone in themed outfits! The bride and groom looked gorgeous in red.
I love my PhillyBoy!
After dinner came the “henna” portion of the night. It is believed that the tradition began so that all of the most important guests of a wedding would be known when they arrived to the church the day of a wedding. All of the guests at Tory & Anita’s henna, in keeping with tradition, danced around the bride, gave her two kisses, and then dipped their pinky fingers into the henna. Every single guest that night did it.
PB went in with all the guys:
After you dip your finger they wrap it so that the henna doesn’t get everywhere:
Tory gave all the groomsmen swords as their gift.
It was a beautiful wedding weekend with lots of love, music, and dancing.
Congratulations Tory! Welcome to Philadelphia & Congratulations Anita!!!! Love you both.

What a beautiful wedding!! I love the traditions that are incorporated into cultural weddings. I married into a Russian family and having some of their traditions at ours was so great!

I’ve been reading for awhile and really enjoyed reading about the other wedding you went to, too. I love the black-and-white rehearsal dinner, and the fact that they really stood out in red.
@Ashley, Thank you so much! I will be posting about my own wedding soon, so hopefully you will still be reading when I do!
