  1. oh gosh! Well at least it will be on before dark today! A midweek date sounds like a nice break πŸ™‚ I totally bring shower shoes and lots of other items when I shower at the gym…..even if the showers look super clean, they freak me out haha

  2. It really is amazing how much we rely on electricity. Our water company has issues so we often lose water and it drives me crazy. I have been known to hit up the gym to shower too. And shower sandals all the way. I do not even want to chance it, you never know what is on those floors YUCK!

So glad you were able to find a place for the food!

Oh and I agree…LIFE IS GOOD!

  3. Love this post and I always enjoy your positivity. We should all be grateful to have a roof over our head. Especially now that it’s getting cold πŸ™‚
Hope you have power restored soon!

  4. You are not the only one with shower shoes. Everyone should wear them. You could catch some gnarly fungus otherwise. I always wear mine in public showers.

  5. We lost our power in February with the big blizzard, for 3 whole days. Like you, I never appreciated electricity SO much. But I didn’t have a good attitude like this about it! If it happens again, I’ll refer to this post. πŸ™‚ (on my phone of course… )

  6. I refuse to have a television in the bedroom! πŸ˜› It’s okay though because even with the television in the living room, we rarely watch it. We mainly got it so there’s not a big blank wall over the media center… And also so we could connect a computer to it.

    πŸ˜›

It’s surprising how much we rely on electricity, and we only notice when it’s gone..

  7. This is my favorite type of post to read! Always inspiring to see people turn a crappy situation into a positive (even fun) adventure. Thanks for adding to the goodness! πŸ™‚

  8. Losing power can be common in Houston during hurricane season. I just moved here right before Hurricane Ike two years ago. My house lost power for 2 days (we left town because the city was dead too), but many many people lost it for weeks! It’s interesting to see how people get resourceful, and to realize how much you rely on power. Many people had neighborhood cookouts to use up frozen meat and food, blowdry hair at work if there was power, camp out in the gym locker rooms, I stood in line at Whole Foods for an hour to get in the store! It’s fun until it’s not!

@Marci, I can only imagine what that must have been like. I have friends in Houston and 2 of them lost their homes because of some serious hurricanes due to floods. It was horrible and I can’t even imagine going through any of that πŸ™

  9. love this post. LOVE IT! i’ve been making a conscious effort to not let life’s disappointments turn me into grumpy pants.

  10. i would probably be freaking out, but it is so great that you are looking at the bright side! i definitely would bring shower sandals to the gym…

  11. I would definitely not take a shower at the gym without flip flops. But I love the experience of gym showering. Reminds me of college.

  12. Even at Equinox gyms I bring my own shower sandals. You just never know….

  13. LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE that painting- by far my fave ever! while in amsty this summer, I went to the van gogh museum SURE to find it…nope. maybe at the MOMA or something>?

  14. It’s funny how many positive things we can find in life’s little annoyances. Many times they are blessings in disguise. πŸ™‚

  15. Oh shower flip flops are a definite must at public showers. Eww!

  16. Jen

yes flip flops are a must for public showers. We lose power for a week when we get ice storms. I’m glad I love camping because the stove comes in handy and our gas fireplace will work for some heat.

  17. I ALWAYS wear shower shoes at the gym. Doesn’t everyone??
It is definately a pain to have no power but I love that you put a positive spin on it to make it fun.

  18. Such a great reminder of how we can simplify life and enjoy the moment, right? Thank you for sharing such a sweet perspective and reminding me of the brightness!
    cheers,

  19. Many photographers are moving to a journalistic approach to
capture the big wedding day. Here you will find the option of three
reception halls each with their own outdoor ceremony site.
They also had a marquee and the whole venue offered a wonderful sense of occasion – something that’s difficult to find in larger hotels.
