  1. In college I used to do that all the time when I lived in the dorm. I’d use egg beaters and it was great!

  2. Wow. I wouldn’t have never thought to microwave eggs. Good to know!

My only time saving trick is really overnight crockpot steel cut oatmeal. But I suppose that’s not really time saving, seeing that you start it the night before. But for my three little ones- it’s a great thing to wake up to already made.

  3. I make my eggs in the microwave a lot! They really turn out great!

  4. I don’t see a problem…we used to microwave them all the time growing up! still yummy ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Heather and I don’t have a microwave anymore. I dismantled it to construct a snow melting machine.

Mostly true story. The only thing I miss is microwaving eggs and warming hobby coffee. Now I warm up milk on the stove every morning. But you asked for a tip …. I’ll think about that.

  7. Funny, I have a post coming up on this very topic! I grew up making microwaved eggs ๐Ÿ™‚

Tip… well, this week I’ve been having blueberry muffins for breakfast that I made and froze on Sunday. 30 seconds in the micro and they are perfect! I looooove batch cooking to help me with breakfast.

  8. My husband does that ALL the time! He loves having a microwaved egg on an english muffin for breakfast. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I use the microwave way too much!

Also, I get hungry girl’s emails and she has lots of egg mug recipes. There’s so many things you can just throw in to make it like a scrambled omelette. I really like that it’s less mess and a bit quicker.

I do that with egg beaters. I have done it with real eggs and they tend to explode, for some reason.

You can also microwave a spaghetti squash instead of baking it to save time. Sorry, that was random.

  11. wow, never thought of using the microwave for that…as far as time-savers…my fav is to coarsely mash a couple ripe avocados with a bit of lime juice, then freeze in ziploc bags…instant guac whenever you want it..just add some onion garlic and seasoning…

  12. I did this all the time in college! It was so fast and easy. If you slide it on a toasted english muffin with some cheese it makes an easy breakfast sandwich on the go!

  13. i hadn’t cooked eggs on the stove until i was in my 20’s! we always cooked eggs in the microwave when i was a kid.

  14. I’ve seen the microwaved tip on some other blogs (Tina’s maybe?) and I’ve always been skeptical. But, just this morning I was thinking about how nice it would be if I could cook eggs more quickly in the morning..maybe I’ll try this tomorrow!

  15. I love doing this! Especially for egg sandwiches because it gives the perfect shape!

  16. Lisa

I grew up on microwaved eggs! My mom use to make them for us on a regular basis before school. They are a great quick way to make them.

  17. Has your husband been reading my blog? That is how I always make eggs, unless it’s a scramble. They come out perfectly! The only problem I’ve found is that the time required varies for each egg, so put a paper towel over your egg to save your microwave for the one egg that requires one less second of cooking.

  18. i thought it was crazy the first time I microwaved my eggs but its bomb and it tastes good! ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Jen

this works great, I do it all the time and toast an english muffin with ham and cheese and its way better then any fast food breakfast sandwich! My micro even has a setting for eggs!

  20. That’s a great tip for cooking in a rush- way better than ordering a fast food breakfast sandwich! I remember the trend in the late 90’s when people were making omelettes in a plastic baggie in the microwave. I still think that one is kinda weird. ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. I used to microwave eggs in college when I lived in the dorms. Surprisingly good!

  22. I microwave my eggs at work using the same technique. It tastes better to me for some reason. I don’t think that’s a good thing though!

  23. Aren’t microwave eggs amazing?! Haha, my mom has been doing it for years and I always thought it was so weird and a bit gross! But now I love doing it and it’s saves so much TIME!

  24. That dish reminds me of a custard-style Korean egg dish that’s a common side dish in restaurants. We usually cook it on the stove, but I’ve seen my mom microwave the eggs (usually flavored with salt, green onions and maybe some protein) when we’re in a hurry. Love your blog – your hostessing ideas are great!

  25. This used to be a very nouveau “redneck” or I better say “country” way of doing eggs. Lol. but the truth is, they come out very fluffy and there is no sticky pan yo clean!

  26. Having an egg wave as a child completely turned me off with microwave eggs ;p

  27. I make this all the time! Sometimes I throw a slice of deli meat on it as well and put it on a sandwichthin… very good.

  28. Hahaha Sherif almost never makes breakfast in the morning.. we tried to microwave undercooked boiled eggs once (we started peeling and Sherif thought it was too liquidy), but it sorta blew up in the microwave lol. Maybe we’ll try Trig’s way one day if we’re in a rush. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Although, in our next house, we’ll try to avoid even having a microwave around because of the radiation…

  29. I love the enthusiastic sprint to microwave eggs ๐Ÿ™‚ I never microwaved eggs until I saw it on a blog. I do make mini egg and veggie ‘muffins’ in the oven and then serve them on English muffins throughout the week (warmed in the microwave).

  30. sometimes i add some frozen spinach and nuke it in a bigger bowl for an instant omelet!

  31. I take eggs in the shell with my lunch time salad box. I just nestle them in there with the lettuce and they don’t break. Then I microwave them in the office nuker, and presto, I have salad with an egg on top. ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. I’ve been microwaving eggs for years — I know it probably zaps some nutritional value, but when you’re in a bind and need filling food fast (and not cereal) its great! And I love Philly Boy’s addition of cheese…haven’t done that one yet!
