Menu: PB’s Birthday Picnic
PB has been working so hard for the last few months, and I knew for his birthday all he’d want to do is hang out. We have this lawn in our neighborhood that we never use, and it was time to take advantage of it. I packed up a fun little lunch, gathered some friends and our bocce ball set, and we had a picnic!
It was a lot of fun and also not a lot of work. I only had 30 minutes when I got back from the market to prepare all the food before PB got back, and I managed to do that. The presentation was not great, but since we rarely eat outside I didn’t have all the supplies I would normally have. It didn’t matter because we devoured the meal in record time anyway.
We all had a lovely, leisurely afternoon, and picnics will now be on the summer rotation!
PB’s Birthday Picnic Menu
Lemon Feta Pasta (made with ziti for easier picnic eating)
Grilled chicken sandwiches with roasted red peppers, arugula, and mozzarella
Kettle chips
Big salad with romaine, arugula, cucumber, tomato, kalamata olives and feta
Soft pretzels
Aranciata
Mango & Coconut popsicles for dessert!
Bonus: friends who can juggle!
Today on Babycenter I shared why you need to take a childbirth class. We loved ours and I actually wish it was longer!

Great menu! Have never heard of Aranciata, but just Googled it and it sounds really good. Is it similar to Orangina?
Picnics are so much fun. We haven’t had one in ages, and will definitely have to wait for late Fall as 110 is just a little too hot for me to be having dinner outside.
A Happy Belated birthday to PB, too!
Sounds like a perfect birthday to me! mmm soft pretzels! I miss those so much. Hope you’re feeling well today 🙂
Mango & coconut popsicles, yum! Happy Birthday to PB!
Sometimes a stress free and low key birthdays are the best. There’s something about picnics that never get old and the food always tastes so good. Happy Birthday to PB!
I truly believe that some of the very best celebrations are low-key and down-to-earth.
I have a good friend who tries to live through the idea that “hanging out is the meaning of life.” It sounds kinda lame, until you hear him discuss that if he can do what needs to be done for himself and the people in his life to the best of his ability, and THEN just be able to calmly enjoy the people and setting he finds himself in at the end of the day, he will obtain simple happiness. I could go for some simple happiness, ya know?
@Heather, I like that!
Is it his birthday already? That means it’s near your anniversary?! What date is it? Summer when you’re a teacher is rough for knowing the date! Anyway, I like your purple blanket.
That is so fun! What a great way to celebrate a birthday in the summer.
