Random thoughts.
1. I have no summer clothes I like. I usually wear dresses all summer, but they are not conducive to playing on the floor. I will have to rethink my summer wardrobe. I’m sick of wearing leggings or exercise capris.
2. When we decided to stay in the city we knew we’d most likely decide to send Raffi to private school one day. I had no idea it was so expensive. How do people afford it?
3. Trying to put a clown nose on a 10 month old for a fun photo is impossible. Every time I snuck it on he ripped it off immediately to try and eat it. We decided to just use a regular happy photo for his 1st birthday circus party invitations.
4. I’m obsessed with planning Raffi’s party. I’m baking his cake. If you know me you know I can cook but I can’t bake. I am SO excited. I sent a friend a really long, rambling email asking for help. I’m so clueless with cakes and frosting, but you bet his cake will be amazing. I’m doing a test drive in 2 weeks if anyone is looking for cake samples.
5. Can you believe that I’ve already lived in Philadelphia for 3 years? I love visiting Rhode Island, but the more time passes the less it feels like home. I wish I could bring my home and neighborhood with me when I visit so I could feel great while I’m there. I feel like a different person when I’m living out of a suitcase in someone else’s home while trying not to leave my footprint. It’s hard not to leave footprints when it seems that Raffi’s toys explode in any room we are in.
6. Raffi and I leave for RI in 6 days. It is going to be like a big family reunion. Several family members from overseas are visiting at the same time. We have big plans for the beach, clam chowder, and hopefully a cooking adventure or two.
7. I really miss peanut butter. I know it’s selfish to say that because Raffi has an allergy, but I miss it every day. I wake up lost and unsure what to eat for breakfast. Most days I’m eating two huge bowls of cereal (which leaves me hungry 2 hours later) or 2 eggs with cheese (which keeps me too full for too long). Hopefully we’ll be able to try almond butter soon, and if it’s a success I’ll start having toast with almond butter.
8. My train for BlogHer leaves tomorrow afternoon, and while I’m looking forward to learning a lot and connecting with others, I’m equally excited for 2 nights without my human alarm clock. I’ll miss him but not the 5:45 AM wakeups.
9. I am really excited for fall – sweatpants and hot tea and apple picking and leaves crunching under my feet.
10. This post was inspired by Tuesday Things.
see, i totally just play on the floor in dresses anyway (well, when no one else is around). Wes won’t remember and they’re way more comfy!
i hope the almond butter works out!!! i would be so lost….
Have you tried sunflower butter?? Just a thought! If you make it at home, just be sure to roast the seeds and salt the butter. 🙂 Fun to hear your random happenings. Raffi is getting bigger + cuter each day!
Have you tried maranatha sunflower seed butter? I don’t like other brands of sunbutter but I had to give up peanut butter for nursing too and theirs has been life changing:)
Love your blog btw!
What a great idea for a circus party. What if you use a site like http://www.picmonkey.com/ to post a clown nose on raffi for his invite? Click “edit photo” and then the icons button (has a bunch of symbols)
Just an idea. Keep us posted on your prep!
I know exactly what you mean about that darn clown nose!!! We could never get a good picture of Liam with one on.
I am sooo with you about fall. I cannot wait!
Enjoy BlogHer!
I insisted on baking my son’s 1st birthday cake, too. All my neighbors kept getting cupcakes dropped on their doorsteps as I did trial runs! (And we did circus! But no clown nose. So cute!)
I hear you on the no summer clothes! I just had a baby 3.5 weeks ago and none of my regular clothes fit (with the exception of a few tank tops, tee’s and workout clothes) and all of my maternity clothes are either winter or are too big.
Cannot. Wait. For. Fall!!!!!!
I agree with the summer clothes thing. Very fed up with clothing options lately. And the comment about fall? So true. I started saying this a few weeks ago. Hello, pumpkin spice coffee, crisp weather, apple cider, pumpkin & apple everything actually! 🙂
