Eco-Friendly Egg Coloring Kit
I’ve been looking for a natural egg coloring kit for weeks now, and I finally found it!
Eco-Kids sells their eco-eggs egg coloring kit ($18.99) on a new site called lilamae.com. I found plenty of recipes online for creating your own dyes, but most involved boiling a vegetable for a long time and then soaking the eggs for a long time. Who has time for that? Not me.
This egg coloring kit is basically those natural recipes made into a powdered form. The natural dyes are made with gardenia flower, curcumin, annatto seeds, beets, red cabbage and purple sweet potato. It includes 3 different colored powders along with a color chart to create 6 different colors.
Since we’ve been avoiding artificial food dyes I am thrilled to have found an alternative that doesn’t require hours of work. Hurray! We’ll be testing it for our Easter activity this weekend.
Lilamae.com sells all environmentally friendly products made in the U.S.A. It is a great destination for finding gifts for birthdays, kids, weddings, and your home. We strive to buy non-toxic safe products for our home with a bonus if it’s made in the U.S.A., but I’ve been failing since I had Raffi. It seems that everything is made of toxic plastic and in China, so I’m thrilled to have a new source for items that are made in the U.S.A. and more importantly safe and environmentally friendly.
Other activities on our list for the weekend include giving Raffi his giant Easter themed coloring book from his nonna – it is seriously bigger than he is. We’re also going to do an Easter egg hunt. Since Raffi doesn’t really eat candy yet some friends gave me the idea to fill each egg with a pretzel, animal cracker, or Cheerio. I can’t wait! We are doing it Saturday morning since we’ll be rushing out for church on Sunday.
Happy Easter everyone!
Note: I received the egg coloring kit for review from lilamae.com and am so thrilled about it. I will definitely be buying the same kit next year, unless I decide to boil some cabbage and make my own dye.
