29 weeks: Why my husband is awesome.
My husband PhillyBoy has been so kind, generous and patient over the last few months, but this week it reached a new level.
I. am. tired.
I feel very happy right now and am loving pregnancy, but I need help with lots of stuff. PB reaches high cabinets to retrieve things for me, takes out every single bin of trash, hoists me out of the car, runs out to get me ice cream sundaes, gives my belly kisses, tells me I’m beautiful all the time, stops a short walk halfway through so I can sit on a bench… and the list goes on.
I feel so loved.
It must be very hard to be the partner through a pregnancy. The pregnant one becomes crazy, suddenly can’t do everything she used to do, and needs a lot of TLC. That has to be hard work! I feel so blessed to have someone so special by my side, and I am thankful every day for that. If you’re looking for nudes online , check out theseΒ petite girls.
Enough gushy stuff….
Apparently I missed the hospital this week because I slipped and fell flat on my back during that freak rainstorm on Friday. Note: no more flip flops! When I called the doctor to ask if I could put ice on my back they freaked out and told me to head straight to the hospital. Long story short, we went and the ultrasound, blood work, and fetal heartbeat were fine. Unfortunately I had a ton of those pesky contractions and they wanted to keep me for 24 hours- even though I insisted that they have been like this all along!!!!!! Needless to say, we signed out against medical advice. I am happy we went because I was put at ease after such a tough fall, but I think the hospital was being too cautious in wanting to monitor me for 24 hours. No grazie.

My face is starting to round out a little, but I don’t mind. I know it will go back down after the baby comes. As the weeks go on I get lazier and lazier about making myself look nice. I am so hot all the time that I shower twice a day just to get my hair wet to cool me off. I only blowdry it when there is a very special reason- I did not even do it for PB’s birthday! I feel the same way with makeup. My face is just too hot or something to be able to take a little eyeliner and blush. I don’t really care about any of it. I’m just happy to do anything I can to stay cool.
Here is what Babycenter says about 29 weeks:
How your baby’s growing:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you’ll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby’s hardening skeleton each day.
I started using a new belly butter that I love. Read about it here and simultaneously enter this $100 diapers.com giveaway!
I’m one of those people who loves being pregnant. Yes, it is hard to see your body change out of control and of course there are plenty of nasty symptoms throughout the pregnancy, but I really don’t mind any of it. I feel very thankful to be pregnant and having a baby with my husband and I can’t wait for September.
Random facts of the week:
Weight gained in the last week: 1.5 lbs (insert sad face)
Overall weight gained: I wish I hadn’t decided to be honest from the beginning. I’m up 27 lbs!
Serious cravings: 3. An ice cream sundae one night, pasta with feta another night, and a multigrain bagel from RyBread with peanut butter one morning
Current cravings: iron-rich foods like red meat and spinach, ice cream with walnuts and hot fudge, take 5 bars (someone bring me one please!), green grapes
Hours spent staring at bambino’s cute new outfits: at least 4
Hours spent panicking that the outfits are not the right size: at least 4
Lists created on funny third trimester pregnancy things: One. Check it out here- You know you’re in the 3rd trimester when…
Birth stories read: Several. I love reading birth stories, and I’ve even gone back to read my friends’ stories over and over again. I can’t wait for labor and delivery. I want to meet bambino now!
Date I think bambino will be born: September 12 because it is only a few days before my due date and it is a full moon.

You look great!! Bambino will be here before you know it! Have you noticed any difference with your hair texture (no more curls, too many curls, thicker, etc)?
@Ashley, Everyone said my pregnant hair would be awesome, but it isn’t. It is exactly the same as before, just with less shedding. That’s one spot where I was not lucky.. I was so looking forward to super shiny hair!
that’s so great that PB is such a wonderful hubby…it’s awesome to see how the entire couple transitions during pregnancy, not just the woman!
You are definitely glowing girlie! π And that belly is beautiful! I can’t believe you took such a fall! GOODNESS!!! Be careful! Bad news though.. eventually flip flops may be the only shoes you can wear, if you swell like I am (at the end). So find yourself some stretchy, comfy ones with good grips on them. You def have a wonderful hubby! Thank goodness for the good ones out there π
@laura,
p.s. Crocs actually have some good ones that you may like. check them out π I’ve been wearing J’s crocs lately that are great!
@laura, Crocs RULE for preggos!
You’re gorgeous, mom-to-be!
I’m making my husband read this post so he can get a better understanding of what he should be doing π You look so amazing!
oh my gosh! I’m so glad you are ok! I am always fearful of falling (I trip on the regular). You look great girl π Sounds like PB has really been incredible (go PB!!!!). Enjoy the rest of your week
At least you’ll feel like you know the hospital inside and out when the big day arrives π
So glad you have such a wonderful, supportive hubby! They make everything so much easier!
Flip flops are the #1 cause of falls in pregnant women. All of you who are “with child” – put away the flip flops!
I’m so glad that you and the baby are safe after your fall, Sabrina! That is very scary.
PhillyBoy is wonderful – love hearing how he’s being such a caretaker. So sweet! Enjoy the doting, it’s one of the many pregnancy perks.
29 weeks – it’s flying! π
that fall sounds scary! better to be safe than sorry at the hospital. one of our friends was monitored for 24 hours for contractions at 31 weeks and is now on bed rest until the end. π You’re looking good at 29 weeks!
Ahhh love that PB is being so sweet! I can’t get over how fast time is flying too. I still think you look fabulous.
You look great Sabrina! Glad everything’s ok, try to stay out of the hospital this week!
My baby was also born a few days before her due date, on a full moon night….just saying… π
Also, re: this comment – “It must be very hard to be the partner through a pregnancy.” – Corey read something about how labor is obviously physically hard for the woman, but emotionally exhausting for the partner because he/she remembers EVERYTHING. Seeing their partner in pain, hearing the screams, etc….it all (kind of) fades away for we mamas, but the partners remember that for a looooong time. Interesting.
@BethT, That is a great point that I never thought about!
Don’t feel bad about the 27 pounds – that seems right on track. You have such a good attitude about everything. At 14 weeks, I’m a little grouchy and need to take a page from your book.
@R @ Learning As I Chop, I was grouchy at 14 weeks too. Don’t worry about it… in a few weeks you will feel awesome and the grouchiness will pass! Congratulations to you!
You look so amazing Sabrina! I am so glad everything is okay after your fall.
Also, I am hoping the whole full moon theory is correct because there is one this Friday, the day after my due date!
Glad everything was ok! It is always good to get things checked but I agree they can be overly cautious at times. You look so great!
You look great! And yay for bambino being a September baby. My b-day is the 10th and my dad’s is the 11th.
@Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life, Mine is the 9th! I love September babies haha
I always thought insurance wouldn’t cover your hospital visit if you left AMA.
@delia, Let’s hope that isn’t the case. No one mentioned anything about insurance not covering anything if I left and I didn’t read the papers very carefully before leaving. If they try not to cover the visit I will come back and let you know~
You both are so wonderful! What an example your marriage is to others! You are going to be magnificent parents!
So glad you were ok after your fall, that weather was crazy!
My husband’s birthday is Sep 12:-)
@Lauren at Keep It Sweet, Mine is September 9th!!!
You look absolutely gorgeous and glowing!! So happy to hear everything was ok too with your fall!
You are seriously glowing! And what a wonderful husband and support system you have. I don’t know how anyone ever goes through pregnancy alone.
Aww this makes me so happy for you… you are so excited to have the baby and can’t stop gushing about your hubs π LOve it!
I’m glad your spill didnt cause anything serious. You still look amazing of course! Hope you’re enjoying your ice cream in this heat!!
September is a great month! My dad’s birthday and my anniversary are in September so I’m a bit biased π
You look amazing and I love your positive attitude!
Oh no, I’m sorry for your fall π
Sounds like you sure are lucky to have PB around! π
You are a beautiful, glowing mama! Pregnancy must really strengthen the bond between expecting parents. Truly wonderful.
